Any dog bred for hunting is considered to have a high prey drive. If the shelter placed a hunting hound, fresh from surgery, into a home with a child who was not raised to know the boundaries of the breed it is no wonder that child was bitten. Case in point, I own 2 Jindos, they are extremely primitive canines and possess very high prey drives. I also have two children ages 5 and 15. One Jindo, we've had for 10 years and the other we recently adopted. I raised my children to respect our dogs; neither dog nor child has ever been hurt by the other. We were warned that they might not fit in our family. But instead of just walking away from our dogs, we educated ourselves and taught our children how to behave around them. These bites are not Buck's fault; they are also not the parents or child's fault. These people most likely saw a sweet boy and did not listen, while assuring the staff they had dealt with large dogs before, when they were cautioned against taking this boy home... they thought they could handle it. This dog deserves a second chance AFTER placement with an experienced foster to determine his true temperament.

This dog deserves another chance. He was put with a family that didn't understand his breed and I am sure that there is more to the story of the biting that isn't being shared. Give him a chance with a breed lover who understands the breed, PLEASE!

This dog deserves a chance at life. Not all dogs appreciate children. The shelter was at fault for adopting him to a family without vaccinations or vetting of any kind. No testing for child appreciation. This dog will do wonderfully in adult home and deserves the chance to prove it!

Please save Buck!! There are many ways to explain the bite. The anxieties of what he was going through, the neuter(pain), the child may have scared or hurt him, etc.
