Please give Buck a 2nd chance. Not all dogs get along well with children, and not all children get along well with dogs.

T Russell Reitz animal shelter really needs to reevaluate their operating procedures after this incident. Why would any shelter adopt out a dog shortly after a neutering surgery? Why wasn't he up to date on his shots? Isn't it common practice among animal shelters to get any animal up to date with their shots? This poor guy was provoked the first time and the second time was "ambiguous". Ambiguous in a lack of words means unclear or inexact. So basically he was provoked twice by a small child who was probably left alone with him or was poking and pulling at him. I hope the city of Manhattan can see that the shelter is in the wrong and will let this boy go to a home where he is loved and cared for.

This dog is being penalized because it has been in wrong situation after wrong situation. Swallow YOUR pride and do what is right for Buck--not what is your "hard and fast rule". The fact that this dog was even adopted WITHOUT a rabies vaccine is a huge oversight that has no bearing on Buck. He didn't control that--the people who adopted hi failed him AGAIN by not getting it when they had their rugrat. SAVE THIS DOG. This is on you.

Buck likely needed a day or so of recovery before being sent to live with a 2 year old who may have accidentally hurt him whilke trying to pet him/love him. What harm would come to the shelter by allowing Buck to go to loving adult-only home? My husband and I have raised hundreds of dollars for the shelter. We are saddened by your treatment of Buck. Why was he allowed to go to a new home without being current on his shots?

Buck deserves a second chance! Parents should have never let a 2 year old be close enough to be bitten and that breed of dog wouldn't have bite without being provoked!

Not an aggressive dog. A two year old shoukd never be leftvwith a (new) dog alone. Toddlers taunt, pull, push, poke, grab, etc without knowing consequences, and dogs protect themselves

You did nothing about a dog that regularly showed aggressive tendencies and eventually attacked my husband and I, but this dog gets euthanized immediately? That's ridiculous.

I don't see how an establishment can call themselves a shelter when they euthanize animals. How is that "sheltering"? I believe this shelter needs to take a good hart look at their core values and start over. Buck can have a home with Chris. There is no reason not to, especially when it was poor judgement on the shelter's part that put him in an adverse situation. God bless and help Buck.
