Am in total agreement, my son and I were present at what must have been the last or one of the last gigs there when we saw Dr Feelgood the other week, it's a great venue and should be preserved

The Ritz Brighouse was a cinema before it was a ballroom
It's a local landmark and should be allowed to keep its name !

What about all the other places all over the UK that were called the Ritz? Why is it that after 80 years they now seem to think it's a problem. In the past they were probably glad of small local venues using the name as it would have helped to raise their own profile. But now 80 years on they've changed their mind. If they had a problem with other places using the 'Ritz' name they should have copyrighted it 80 years ago.

I've never heard of anything so stupid. The London Ritz is surely secure enough in it's own identity to behave better than this. Or is it secretly scared of the Brighouse Ritz? Anyway, didn't the name Ritz originate in Paris? If this stuff catches on, are 200 million Chinese people going to insist that I stop using my surname? Where's it all

What a shame, I'm local and a regular to many Brighouse events and organised social events by BBI over the years around the town too. Ritz is a unique place and offers a very well attended club scene and a stepping stone for many new and established bands and groups,
Will 1st buses have to re write all their timetables that state the Ritz too ? I think not, nothing but bullying.

The Ritz has been in Brighouse as long as I can remember, why all of a sudden is the Ritz London interested in them. this is an iconic venue for Brighouse

This is awful pressure that is being put on the dance hall. If the Ritz in London are so worried let them change there name. What about all the Ritz fish shops in England have they to change their name as well. Lets have some sense.

there is some think that stinks about all of this .ever town in England had a ritz .what as changed ?. it's wrong some hotel in London can't have there way .and another thing it's not the best hotel in London any way

The word 'unbelievable' just does not do this situation justice. The Hotel just does not have the right to either demand this or win it. Good Luck Ritz Ballroom

Such an iconic landmark cannot go. People come from far and wide to dance on the sprung ballroom floor. There are so few left in the country.
