First of all it is wrong to perform cosmetic surgery on a non consenting minor, and secondly you cant do it without the mothers consent, that is assault.

I just don't understand how the government can force a procedure on an infant that is not medically necessary! Genital mutilation should stay in the distant past. The way this child has been treated is horrible at best. They refused to give medical treatment when it was a dire situation and now they are forcing a "treatment" for which there are no symptoms! If her religion were against cutting, would you still be doing this?
