Please come out and vote in the June 11 primaries! Vote out the candidate who supports the construction. I know I will. Walking by Blake Lane park today I couldn’t help but think how awful the place will be with a huge parking lot, buses, drop off and pick up traffic. Our quiet street will become a cut through road for when Bushman becomes too congested. So yeah, come out and vote!!

Beyond all the valid reasons for preserving green space and the attendant benefits of such, certainly a legitimate traffic study would show the deleterious effect on traffic congestion, not only on Blake Lane but also on the side streets used as shortcuts between Blake and Chain Bridge for example. A terrible decision when certainly alternative sites are available if another elementary school is in fact needed.

This park must stay. Most other parks are small and don't allow adequate room to run...not the case here. Also, it helps alleviate the issue of over crowding.

Let's keep the green spaces. Is a new elementary school really needed?

I was shocked that the idea of populating more the area with 800 students and staff, taking away this beautiful park is on development. We have been fed up with the fact that streets are so congested and if is very hard to go out for a walk with your family without feeling that you are going to be ran over by other of the speedy drivers here. Let's not forget the texting driver that ran a post on Blake Lane years ago, imagine if a kid was standing by that post. It is ridiculous that we need a car to drop our children to Oakton Elementary, walking there with our children feels already dangerous. The traffic around 4 p.m. when children are dismissed is insane. and we are going to double that now? This is unacceptable. Let some air, green and peace for us. Save the park!.

I am signing this petition to oppose construction at Blake Lane Park and to preserve the open space. What do we do with all the new children because of all the new housing? You LIMIT the developers to match available resources -- not the other way around. Stop overbuilding and overpopulating.

Please keep our open park space. We need to encourage healthy living in our communities and parks are a low cost way to encourage physical activity and social connection

Please keep this park open. I take my dog to the dog park there. There are always kids playing soccer and ball and it just feels so much like a family park. It is also a great recycle place. The traffic on Blake Lane will be majorly affected also. Please!!

The traffic is already bad enough on Blake and Germantown....we do not need more traffic! Please keep our our beautiful park intact.

I’m not agree with the destruction of the park, the park brings a lot relax to the community as well we can have more trees and nature
