Save Blake Lane Park

I have memories of this park from my youth. I'd very much like this place to remain. This little patch of grass and trees is one of the last respites for those seeking peace of mind and some familiarity with nature in an ocean of concrete and plastic. Please, let families have somewhere to let their children play. Not only is this ethical, but it's also practical; keeping this park here is a perfect way to balance out stressful or repetitive work environments with a place where people can feel safe and normal spending some time to relax and recover, recharging their batteries in the sun or with their children and pets, to return to work even happier and more rested. It only makes logical and moral sense to leave this park intact. So, here is my signature. I'd sign it a thousand times if I could. Please keep our park alive.

I personally loved enjoying this open space for walks and playing with my children. We played frisbee, flew kites and watched people celebrate during warmer days w/a picnic blanket to just hang out.. It gave a homely and safe sight & effect to all who drove/passed by there. During July 4th people used to hang out there and celebrate as the space was safe & open even for fire-crackers. The traffic around the park area is already very based due to a close-knit network of schools in all of the surrounding and adjoining roads. We definitely don't need an additional school at least not here! Most people are already frustrated because of the worsening congestion and this will only increase blood-pressures and stress levels for all folks who live or drive around this park/road(s). PLEASE HELP SAVE THIS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY NATURAL OPEN SPACE FROM DESTRUCTION AND MORE CONCRETE STRUCTURES COMING UP!! WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD PARK VERY MUCH!

I sincerely support saving this lovely park I've known for over 20 years. We grew our family bonds playing w/neighbors & friends in this very park. My kids had their soccer games there. Always loved walking and watching the dogs playing together in the dog park. I would hate for another wonderful open park space being destroyed just for another school to come in! We already have almost 7+ schools within the 5 miles radius around this park. The traffic congestion is already getting worse & is adding to increased stress levels as the years go by since we first moved in early 2000! PLEASE PROTECT THIS PARK AND SAVE IT. IT'LL ALSO DO GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT & KEEP THE QUICKLY VANISHING GREEN SPACES....

I’ve been a resident for almost 30 years. Our parks and beautiful trees are what make our home so special.

My family has enjoyed this park for over 20 years and have walked to it daily. We would be extremely disappointed if the county builds on this last open area in our community.

There are enough, and good, schools in the area. People who argued "a school within walking distance" are foolish and selfish because they lack the common sense to understand that any such construction will rid a nature sanctuary and bring so much traffic congestion including noise to the peaceful neighborhood and they too have to suffer the consequences e.g. constraints on the budget which will eventually raise their taxes. Better yet, I think these people who want such construction should move a short distance elsewhere, perhaps the more feasible Fairfax City, and stop disrupting others' daily lives, especially if they are renters!! God Bless America with the white picket fence, or no more?!?! (This Rt66 expansion is also unnecessary because increased lanes lead to more future bottlenecks. I know it's counter-intuitive. That's why most people don't understand! Please consult what other green countries are doing about this type of traffic/population problems, not just build, build, build via capitalism.)

I never want to see another construction site as long as I live. Also, I hate traffic and little school children. I need a place to walk my dog.

It seems there are still more questions to be answered before we move ahead and pave over another piece of Oakton's green space.

We desperately need to preserve green space.

Why every time they see a green space, people think they have to build something there. We need green spaces, no more constructions. That space is not only occupied by children to train and play soccer, we also use that space for walking our dogs. It is a small lung that gives us oxygen. Leave him alone!!!

It should also be noted that there are already TWO elementary schools (Moseby Woods and Oakton) each within a mile of this proposed school site and there has not been new home construction in the vicinity of the park to justify the need for a school there. The population in that area has been stable. Vienna West is not near it.

Parks make us healthier and happier. We've got plenty of development and not enough green space in Northern Virginia. Keep Blake Lane Park!

At some point we need to supersede biodiversity health over economic wealth.

With all of the over development we need green space.

No need to destroy important green space in Oakton.

You can't get open space and wildlife habitat back once it's gone - I 100% agree we should not build over Blake Lane Park.

That area is already congested. Drivers now speed like their on the beltway and God help you if your in a crosswalk on this stretch. School buses added to Jermantown road? Let’s use our heads here people.

We need to save as much green space as we can. We also Don’t need any more traffic on Jermantown road-think school buses! Think safety.
