I have lots to of friends in theatre and I know it makes them happy.

Please keep Mr. Randy Day and continue to fund the Theatre Guild! I am a BHS 2014 graduate. Although I was never in any of the shows myself, many of my friends were in the theatre guild, and I would always go to see the shows they were in to support them. Sometimes I would go to the same show more than once. Even before I attended BHS, I grew up going to the theatre performances. "Camelot" and "The Secret Garden" come to mind. Beauty and the Beast was stunning! It's always a treat to see the newest show put on by the BHS Theatre Guild!

Mraz Center is recognized throughout the Twin Cities as a rate gem, a high school theatre that stages productions better than most professional theatre companies. And the reason for that is Randy Day. His theatre savvy and dedication to his art and to his company is unparalleled.

Fund the arts! I am a 2015 graduate of BHS and am now at Oklahoma City University pursuing a degree in dance (call me stupid if you wish but realize that your daughter may want to take dance classes some day and I will be there to teach her). Theatre is more than a hobby for his schoolers; it's a passion dan drive. Theatre allows expression, freedom, security. I have known Mr. Day for several years now and while he can be a pain to get along with, he is insightful, creative, and knows how to put on a damn good show. Before getting rid of the program, or Mr. Day, ask yourself why? Is it money? Is it pure numbers in attendance? Or is it simply just because it is not a priority because football and hockey are more important than a child learning to be creative, and giving them a chance at a future in the arts. You cannot tell me that sports and the education is more important than the arts. Without arts, we would not have music, we would not have buildings, we would not have books, we just simply would not have anything we love. Find a way to fund the arts because it not only is an outlet for some students, but can save the lives of them. Let them be creative, let them perform, help them open doors to walk through- not shut them.

BHS theatre shaped who I am today. I'm forever grateful to Mr. Day for his mentoring and guidance. I urge the administration to keep him. I can't imagine my life with out the arts and BHS students deserve the opportunity to express themselves on that stage. I don't know who I would be with out those years in the Mraz center.

I was not involve in theatre while I was a student there from 2001-2004. I think this is a great thing what you guys are doing to save Mr. Day and the theatre department at BHS.

I'm a BHS 2014 Alum & Mr. Day taught me so much, he was the one I could count on to push me. He saw a talent in me I didn't even see, he made me realize the my potential & inspires me to this day. He was a tough guy but the greatest role model I could of asked for to teach me in the theatre arts.

Mr. Randy Day is not replacement. You will not find another Director with such passion, knowledge, or dedication to the students and productions.

It has been very disheartening to see how many petitions and protests have had to be made, especially over the last couple years, in regards to changes being made to BHS Theatre.
With that, I have a couple of questions that I hope will be addressed and considered in this discussion:
What need is there to change this program when it has proven to benefit its current students' and alumnis' lives in numerous ways? How many more times do we have to petition and protest before we are truly heard and understood?
The loss of Mr. Day is a change that will undoubtedly cause the most suffering to this program, and it will have many ramifications. Mr. Day not only has had a great impact on this program, but also on my life and the person I am today. Like the program, he has changed my life for the better, in ways I could have never imagined. I hope that current and future students of the BHS Theatre Guild will have the opportunity to collaborate and learn from the most inspiring man that I have ever met.
Please listen to our voices and understand the gravity of this decision and its consequences.

Randy Day is an inspirational individual and his efforts to communicate life lessons and values through the Theatre program is irreplaceable. Randy is the linchpin of the BHS Theatre and prepared myself and many others to succeed with the values he taught through Theatre.

Theatre is a HUGE part of people's lives! You'd be lying by saying you never went to see a play or musical. Let students have something they are passionate about!
