One of the good things that BHS is known for is its Theater program and their amazing performances. Mr. Day is the reason our theater program stands out compared to other schools in our area. With all of the changes and improvements to our school, it's sad that the focus is moving away from the arts and getting rid of someone who builds up our community and has helped our school build its reputation for something positive. Please rethink this decision as it will change our entire program and the quality of our performances. I'm thankful for the experiences and lessons learned that my children have had from Mr. Day and I'd love to continue them!

My three years at Burnsville high school was amazing because of theater. It will always be a part of me. Mr. day was there through it all and pushed us all to be our best. I'm so sad to see this happen. I hope they realize getting rid of him will change theatre forever and won't be the same without him.

Please keep Mr. Day. He has helped my son and his friends find their true potential through theater. The productions are top notch and are a great way to support the arts in our schools. Among other skills, the arts teach cooperation, self confidence, determination, creativity, focus, and listening to each other. All of these skills are essential for growing up and entering into college and the workforce. The isd191 mission is "ensuring all students are Real-World Ready" - including the arts!

A wonderful man who has helped thousands of students express themselves and flourish. It's easy to cut the arts. But education isn't about what's easy or makes the most sense, it's about what will benefit the student. Removing this outlet will make the education of Burnsville High School suffer immensely.

Mr. Day is truly a gift to BHS. He taught me an incredible amount about technical theatre, because he let me be in control and learn from my mistakes. He certainly isn't perfect, but he taught me to have a great work ethic, and how to behave in a professional environment. He encouraged and helped me to figure out where I wanted to go to school for theatre, and I graduated from UMD with a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in Theatre, emphasis on Stage Management. Arriving at college, I was easily prepared for college level work, including building the sets, hanging lights, and working in the costume shop. Because of Mr. Day, I excelled immediately where as many freshman struggled. Since graduating, I've worked at the Children's Theater Company for 5 years, and now have connections around the Twin Cities for more jobs. Without Mr. Day, I certainly wouldn't where I am right now. Instead of listening to only faculty, maybe try listening to alumni, who have the maturity to look back and recognize that even though he wasn't the most cuddly person, he pushed every single student to act better, work better, and be better, because he knew they were capable of it. And if pushing students to be the best they can be is not something you care about at BHS, then I'm glad I graduated back when it was a priority.

Mr Day welcomed me into the theater department with welcome arms when I moved across the country over winter break my junior year. With no friends here and being a somewhat shy person around strangers he pushed me into the pack and I quickly made friends and the move that could have made me miserable turned out to not be that terrible. I served on the STAF of the Mraz Center and spent my summer and evenings around this man. He is a great asset to many young lives and teaches responsibility, keeping your word and pushes you to always search for ways to do more and make yourself better. I will never forget my time with BHS Theater and I will certainly not ever forget or stop thanking Mr Day for making me he person I am now.

While I had heard a rumor I couldn't believe it until a statement was made. That is absolutely crazy! So many young adults have learned countless life lessons using this platform. The shows are always great. Personally, I would rather see a theater production by our youth than the professionals. Same as sports of youth. While the schools have recently added an amazing addition for the athletic area they need the theater for that activity as well. Just once, make a decision for the best. Parent of 2 kids from BHS

Theater was my favorite part of high school and I have continued to be involved in college. If it wouldn't had been for Mr. Day I don't think theater would have been as much fun. He was always helpful and so knowledgeable about everything. You can't just get rid of that it's like taking theater away from the students

Theatre added so much to my life in high school. I knew that theatre was a passion of mine, and I wanted to attend an arts high school to pursue it further, but was encouraged to try the BHS program before transferring. The rehearsals are rigorous and the work difficult, but isn't that like so many other things in life? Rehearsals and performing taught me a lot about time management, determination, finding motivation from within, and staying positive through it all. I learned more about myself and my passions through this program than any other class. I'm transferring colleges this semester in part because my school does not offer a musical theatre program that is comparable in quality to BHS's program. It would be an awful shame to cut the program.

Theather is a huge part of the school and community. I went to Burnsville high school that was a great part of my education being part of that.
