Why on earth would they do this - shame on SHBC!

what a shame to lose the only building on this stretch of the A30 that has any significant character rather than all the block built glass fronted utility building and apartments which now line the London Road.

The Council seem determined to ensure that anything unique in Camberley is destroyed so it just looks like anywhere else. The loss of Betty Browns would be a disaster, as would the loss of the best Thai restaurant for miles around.

Actually the Obelisk is older, and The Bear. The medieval frontage was added in 1926 as the petition says.

How is this building not listed? It's by far the oldest building in Camberley outside Sandhurst!

This would be sacrilege to undergo destruction!!!!!!!!

Why should we always have to look at history books to know what these lovely buildings looked like, we should be preserving the buildings not demolishing them

if you keep taking the heart and character and history from a tow the soul really has no place anymore, how many more beautiful buildings will be lost in Camberley?, the duke of York, robins cinema ,bad planning and no foresight into what could have been done to these properties to save them ,surely with modern building capabilities it's possible to encompass the old with the New to enhance a sterile soulless construction, come on SHBC use some initiative!!!
