Bellevue Rink needs our help. Parks and Recreation Committee has made a recommendation to the City of Beaumont to close and remove Bellevue Rink and return the land to its original condition. We feel this rink is a big part of not only Ecole Bellevue but also the Beaumont Community!

It was our understanding, as posted on various media sites (beaumont.ab.ca and Facebook on June 3, 2020), that the Bellevue rink was moving forward with a renovation on its existing site. Since that time, no other communication has been given or advertised.

The Bellevue Rink has been in our community for many, many years. We believe that there has been a rink in this location for over 40 years. The City of Beaumont made a priority this year to increase more public outdoor recreation spaces. Having this rink fits with this goal.

Bellevue School promotes active living and uses the space for recess, PE, Active for Life program and classrooms. The space is not just used for skating, but also used throughout the year for other sports, and activities. From basketball, soccer, street hockey, four square, skipping and a bunch more. It would be concerning, to have it removed.

Through out the winter this rink is used daily by skaters of all ages, the size and central location of this rink makes it prefect for a pick up game as well as a family skate. This past year was a disappointing year for anyone wanting to use the Bellevue Rink as it was the last rink in the community to be flood. Parks and Recreation did not start the flooding process till January 11. At this point many other rinks were ready for use while Bellevue sat empty.

I have lived in Beaumont sense 1985 and this rink has been part of my life! It’s been an amazing facility that needs some love and it will continue to be a great facility. Why get rid of a facility that has so much use from the public and school?? It was greatly missed this past winter!!

The rink is always used and is such an asset to the kids at Bellevue school, too. Please keep this outlet of entertainment that is used not only in the winter, but summer, too. Its where our kids learned to skate and first ride their two wheeled bikes.

This rink is the most used outdoor rink in Beaumont. Last year it was decided it will get a make over and now you planning to take it out?! Why?!! The rink is ALWAYS used during winter months not just the Bellevue school but the whole community. It is really not well thought of idea to get rid of it.

My kids grew up at the rink and so many others still use it. Not to mention a drop in hockey program. The youth of Beaumont need free opportunities to do healthy things to keep them busy - this is one! Don’t take that away from them!!

I don't understand why we'd remove an outdoor recreational opportunity when the town is growing. I understand a new rink was added, but taking one away just sets us back in a growing community.

My son used that rink everyday in the winter a couple years ago. If we lose that ODR we'll lose as Community and to many a big part of history in Beaumont. Thousands have used that rink over the years.
