The council claims this brings much needed money into the borough - 200k??! There are 307,000 people in Wandsworth - why don't they just raise council tax by one pound!

Whose preposterous idea was that. I complained on the day but it was too late. if Wandsworth Council does not invoke the break clause now, we will organize a 15000 strong demonstration on said date to disrupt the race.

A ridiculous event to hold in a central London park, particularly during the summer when the park is most needed as a 'green lung' for so many.

The triumph of money over social and environmental responsibility. This is not what we elect our councillors to do. Please invoke the break clause now before we have to elect new councillors

Does anyone know what the next steps are here? I see no sign of the council undoing the damage they have done? Was the way they set this event up even legal? Surely mixing forklifts and heavy machinery with playing school children is completely illegal

Listen to the petition users. Even if the racing cars are quieter, car racing should stay at known circuits and Councils should think of more family day out activities for tranquil parks and picnickers having well deserved time out from their frantic city lives. Battersea Park's origins was to encourage families to unwind in green spaces, and not encounter health and safety fencing blocking walks. Suzanne Press

it was appalling, most of the"security" staff barely spoke english and just grunted and blocked the way despite signs indicating that route was av. for 3 weeks 70% of the park was unusable by the general public. This was not the purpose of our much loved park. The expensive daily parking, the bikes, the outlets and play areas raise enourmous amounts for the CC we do not need or WANT this ungreen devastaing invasion EVER again.

I think this is a disgraceful thing to do to a beautiful park where I have walked on several occasions with great pleasure. Parks are not there to make money for councils. They are for councils to spend their residents money for the peaceful healthful recreation of the residents. Motor racing is neither peaceful nor healthful

This event amounted to the sort of vandalism that the Council is there to prevent - not to promote.
