I am a grad of BCC in 1980. I grew up in shanty bay. The education from central allowed me to carry on further studies at Fanshaw college in London and later operate a restaurant in Barrie for many years. A big thank you to Mr Mossop, Janet Turner and Betty Veitch for their mentorship during my high school years.

Barrie needs a downtown school to maintain future growth of the city. Past boards have said there is no growth happening in the down town area. This is soon to change and not only will they need the new South Barrie High School but they will ALSO need Central Collegiate to be up and running and MAINTAINED properly by a responsible school board.

This school needs to be left running, and repaired/rebuilt. Shutting it down and sending out kids to Barrie North Collegiate is just going to over crowd and already crowded barrie north!!!!!!

SAVE OUR SCHOOLS! Kingston knows all too well the terrible consequences of poor provincial policy that causes trustees to close down valuable downtown schools.

Minister Sandal and Premier Wynne please stop hiding behind compliant school boards and start listening to the electorate. The education funding system is broken. Schools are the heart of a community and encouraging a US style bused, mega-school system just does not work.

This is supposedly a democracy. If the parents and students at BSC want to preserve the school and continue to use it, then listen to them. They are the ones paying for it.
