Music is an important part of a kid’s life. It brings structure and a place to belong. Not all kids enjoy sports. Band is a place where regardless of skill or athletic ability a kid will find acceptance and a special calm that everyone, young and old, needs.

Having the arts in school is so important and to take that away is something I can’t fathom. Not only are you losing music education someone is losing their job. It just hurts my heart as someone who loves music. Does he a music program to be done away with because of the budget.

Band is where I felt like I most belonged throughout my time in the Hawthorne Public School systems. Getting rid of music should not be an option!
