I graduated class of 1997 and this prepared me for college, for the military and for life. This new charter doesn't have the history of Arts High and anyone concerned with preserving Newark's history (this school has been around since the 1930's) would never seek to rid Newark of this school. For me, this is no different than ISIS (ISIL) destroying ancient artifacts because my beloved almamater won't have the chance to become one.

This was my dream school when I was in middle school and I was blessed enough to have been accepted. My experiences, my education, and the people I've met has molded me to who I am today and I am happy with that. To hear this happening to my school is devastating. Don't take away the first and original art school in Newark!

I went to Arts High for freshman and sophomore year before I moved out of state (05,06) class of 2008 . The best balance and teachers I've ever had. Best memories of my life.

I didn't Go here but this was my dream school from childhood. My art teacher told me your very talented in 6th grade at ridge st elementary. She said you would benefit for your work if you attend. I moved out of state. To the sunshine state ended up going to an art school Here and all I ever think of doing so was how if going to arts high in New Jersey with all my childhood friends would if been like I support this school to the fullest. Kids in this location need a place like this help them master there skills and explore there talent!!! Please keep this school and help the kids who dream if becoming more then just a statistic!

There is no way this should ever happen. How could this plan even be brought to the table? It is utterly ridiculous and ludicrous. Think of all the great talent that had walked through the doors of this school. I will fight this until the end! Find another alternative because this plan is not going to happen.

We need Arts High School in the community. Music, Art, and Drama give students the exposure and opportunity to pursue their dreams. A lot of successful alumni have graduated from this school. It's a asset to the Newark school system, so let's keep it alive!!

as a graduate and educator I am sadden at the level to which this woman is allowed to destroy the public school system in Newark. There is always another reason as to why she is so gung hi with the choices she is making. Someway some how she is getting a kickback with financially or with the promise of a job when Christie ever gets to the senate or White House. If you take away magnet schools you will now help in the destruction of a society.
