A new blanket rule without consideration of cost, no consultation with parents to ask how they feel and no consideration to how families are actually going to find grey trousers/skirts in the sizes needed. The majority of the senior schools in the area wear black so that's what the majority of the shops stock. I believe this is another way to tackle the skinny jeans problem do they not realise you can also get grey skinny jeans?!! Why not tackle the skinny jeans problem properly rather than change which isn't a change for the better!!

Many parents particularly those with low budgets or with multiple school age children have already bought uniform for the new school term or budgeted based on what can be passed down. To give notice at this stage is unacceptable and a slight colour variation is ridiculous frankly

I really don't think I will find grey school trousers to fit my son! I have to buy men's suit trousers now, in order for them to fit and look like uniform!

We don't want grey....I HAVE RUNG the school yesterday and asked for the reason and they don't know apart from the secretary said it could be to stop the girls wearing tight skinny black jean material. My last child to go through the school has enough uniform to last for next year. I told them for some families changing will be costly and some may have even purchased uniform already, I know I had when my children moved up from juniors. Also try finding ladies grey school trousers without a black fleck or faint line. So it can't be as letter suggests to make everyone the same. The cost of black trousers in Asda range from £6 upwards cheapest grey pair was £18 and not a pure plain grey in a ladies size.
I suggested that they should consider a staff uniform or at least something along the lines of trousers ankle length not tight and ALL Skirts should on or below the knee with ALL shoes covering their toes. I saw a teacher in a short dress and another with a strappy top both wearing open toed sandles. I believe they should have to follow a professional dress code too OR allow the children to do the same especially in this heat recently.
I got ask could I write into to school which I will do. I suggest everyone do this addressed to Head and Govenors.
Why grey seams an odd change black and grey can vary.

My daughter has already got black trousers and black skirts for this year and also for next year!!!! I do NOT want to be going out and buying more

I think the children look smart as they are so why change something that already works? Plus grey trousers would look ridiculous with the rest of the uniform.

Don't see why this is happening and how the students at argoed high school don't get there say in any part of this, when they are the ones wearing the uniform 5 days a week, obviously if black stays then they would come down stricter on the pupils uniform which wouldn't cause as much hassle as this situation has

Grey trousers with a grey tshirt and black shoes will look absolutely ridiculous!!!!
Plus my son is now in men's clothing - they don't do "casual" grey trousers, only formal ones that will be double the price!!
Plus stock of grey trousers in high street stores is very limited because nearly all the schools in the area wear black and not grey.
I'd rather them bring back the shirt and tie to go with the black trousers if they want to "smarten" things up.
You're never going to find a pair of grey trousers the same colour as their tshirts either, so smart grey trousers, with a different colour casual grey polo shirt, and black school shoes????
I realise it's not a fashion parade but don't cause our children embarrassment by dressing them so ridiculously.

Changing to Grey trousers and skirts is a pointless decision to make the school look smarter we would all look more a state walking around in different shades of grey then we would black, as well as this girls wouldn't feel comfortable wearing grey as it can cause issues at a certain time of the month, it is also very hard to find skirts and trousers in the right sizes for high school students as grey uniforms are normally aimed at primary and infant schools not 11 to 16 year olds
