I think it's pathetic changing it to grey, you can't get grey pants to fit the tall lads, everyone will be wearing different colour grey and the school will look odd and tacky also not many places supply grey pants in high school sizes, and as a side note it will clash with the grey polo shirt

What an absolutely ridiculous suggestion! I feel that the staff at the Argoed should be concentrating on improving their image with regards to children smoking and drinking along with bullying. There are no real punishments for re-offending children that other schools have expelled and the Argoed continue to take. The school are being walked all over and are failing the students that want to learn! Grey trousers! Really! Come on Mrs Spence get your priorities right for crying out loud.

Its a ridiculous decision to try and stop the kids buying trendy uniform when in fact the uniform doesnt make any difference to the education of the students so I dont see how 'grey' will change anything! Also not to mention the fact that most parents have started buying uniform already. Such a drastic decision should have been put forward to everyone to express their opinion!

Black looks smart, Argoed uniform has always been black trousers. Grey will look dull and the students will hate it. They will look ridiculous!!

As i pupil i find it disgraceful that the decision has gone ahead and that also no one approached any pupil to ask there decision. Also the teaches think that the pupils will go to school and obey the uniform code where actually they will challenge it more due to the idea. Also whoever thinks that grey on grey within the summer time will look good honestly needs to get there eyes checked seriously... So bring black back !!!

I feel that a grey tshiry with grey lower wear will look dull and dreary. Surely a consultation which claims to have recognised the opinions of a fair cross section of a community such as ours, shpuld include all staff and parents. It may be a legal requirement to attend school but it is not a legal requirement to increase the financial outgoings of local hard working families without good reason and a fair and justified discussion and conclusion.

It's like having blue shorts with a red kit. It just doesn't work. Bring the black trousers back.

So am I to believe that the Argoed School Governers have made this decision regarding uniform without any consultation with parents or pupils? This is unfortunately a bad decision, there are many factors that seem to have been ignored, ie cost, availability, existing uniform including passed down items. The black uniform is in keeping with the rest of the uniform, grey trousers/skirt would clash and not present the smart image that Argoed claim to be wanting to achieve. I would consider a move to shirt & tie more readily than changing the colour of an already acceptable item of uniform, however this doesn't seem to be up for discussion. I accept that change is an inevitable and acceptable part of life but this change has been ill thought out and I urge the governers to take notice and review their decision.

Absolutely pathetic, the school say that they've made this decision based on pupil opinion, what pupils??! What if someone with not much money has already gone out and bought black trousers for next year or already has black trousers for next year? A waste of money, money which can be spent on far more important things. #BBB

This discussion has not been thought through properly. Many parents have already bought black trousers ready for September. Decisions like this need far more notice than has been given and parents should have been consulted about the proposed changes. Given that there are varying shades of grey I fail to see how this change will look any smarter than the current black uniform. Hopefully common sense will prevail and the school governors will rethink this badly made decision.

There are too many shades of grey, even if you could find plain grey trousers which you can't. What do you expect me to do with the black TAILORED trousers I already have?? If this is to do with children wearing tight black jeans then send them home!!!!!
