Toronto needs well-staffed and accessible alternative education! City View is just one example. I support healthy schools for everyone, and I support the teachers who have dedicated themselves to providing real diversity in the system. There is a need to invest in education right across the board, and to support City View.

I wanted to make a debate club and a Bipoc club but I wasn't able to because there was not enough teachers to supervise.

City View and other alternative middle schools provide critical opportunities for TDSB students. It is so disheartening to see the TDSB refusing to adapt their teacher allocation formulas to ensure that these schools can function as intended. Since City View has hd their staff cut from 4 teachers to just 2.5, our kids have been unable to access adequate SpecEd supports (resource), after school tutorials, or even clubs for LGBTQ2S and BIPOC students and allies or field trips. The TDSB spends so much time talking about equity for all students; it’s time to put words into action by ensuring that no school is forced to try to function with less than 3 teachers. This is the only way to ensure that ALL students at ALL schools have adequate resources for learning and mental health and well-being.
