Can't see Friends group supporting library in any other building than one bequeathed to almondbury. Current building well known and loved.

The library caters for all ages, it is a very valuable community asset housed in a beautiful heritage building which is a pleasure to go to. AFLA currently has many activities organised there & many more planned. There are also exciting plans for a community garden. The council has not thought through its “plans” to close the library – it thinks it’s a simple transference of activities, leaving an empty building which will go into “stock” until a developer offers them an acceptable amount of money for it. This is very stupid. Once the building is taken out of the community it will NEVER COME BACK. And neither will the services it presently offers. The council fails to think long term, or to appreciate the enormous amount of work and commitment already being put into Almondbury Library on Stocks Walk.

Think it’s a disgrace closing it’s some people’s lifeline and why end a era it’s all about money yet again .

Almondbury library is a valuable asset to the local community and closing it would mean fanilies with young children, some of whom rely on public transport to travel into town having to make the costly journey just to use a library whilst council tax increases with every budget the Kirklees Labour Party bring out. This closure clearly doesn’t represent a good deal for Almondbury residents

Disgusting that the council should even be thinking of shutting this beautiful building and moving to a soulless place that most people don't even know where it is !

The library is at the heart of the local community and should not be allowed to close. Local residents who pay their hard earned taxis are against this proposal. Why should our views be ignored yet again by Kirklees Labour Council?.

Once closed we will never fund opening them again this is a big mistake.
