The Alfriston Schoolhouse was built in 1885 and originally was used as a church building at Christ Church, on the hill behind the school. It then became the Schoolhouse for Alfriston School (the date is unknown but Alfriston School was founded in 1894, so quite likely the school's first building) It then became the Alfriston Community's meeting place, and finally a private house. It was planed to get restored in 1972 (42 years ago) , and now sits storing hay and rotting to pieces.This building was used for many community purposes over it's prime time, with it being a church meeting house, schoolhouse and community meeting house.This beautiful building needs to get restored and place back on school property, were it's beauty and history can be enjoyed for many generations to enjoy.
