I grew up at this tennis club!! I spent 5 (week) nights a week and 2 days (weekends) here!! I didn’t live in Whitchurch but it has been a big part of my life; it kept kids like me off the streets causing trouble and provided a hobby. The council is always saying “give kids more exercise” so please don’t take away there opportunity.
Whitchurch tennis club is more than ”Whitchurch tennis club” it was “Park Lawn Tennis Club” and has been pivotal to the local community for decades; longer than you and I have been on this planet!! Just remember when it’s gone, it is gone!! There is no bringing it back!!
What do you gain by turning this small holding into property? A few properties that you have to keep within traditional property on the area!! What do you take away? You take away the opportunity of 100’s of children interacting and playing a team and individual sport, gaining lifelong skills and potentially you risk the next Andy Murray going un-noticed.
For the sake of the community please keep #WTC

Valuable asset for the Whitchurch area which will a feral shame to loose. The surrounding propeties will be severly effected if the Tennis Courts are replaced by housing.

Given that more and more people are needing sporting facilities, with younger people encouraged to take up sports , and older people needing to keep active, this tennis facility is of vital importance.

I use to work as a police officer in Whitchurch and this was a great place for youngsters to learn tennis giving them options from your common attraction like football and rugby, taking this away is madnesses
