SAVE 35th AVE NE

Spend money on improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Bikers use safe bike routes and should be encourage to use the Burke Gilman Trail

The City isn't listening to us. We don't need or want bike lanes on 35th. Put in crosswalks, keep the buses.

Adding bike lanes to an arterial does not encourage cyclists to divert from safe, existing bike routes in the Wedgwood and Ravenna neighborhoods. The same project done on NE 75th didn't bring cyclists and only caused worse traffic.

Safety of all involved will not be improved; bicyclists, pedestrians, and drivers. Cyclists have safe routes to use already, as I use them nearly daily. I would never ride on 35th with or without a bike lane given the volume of traffic - buses, large trucks, too many cars. Reducing traffic flow will result in gridlock as is now the case on NE 75th St during high traffic times.

There is already a bike lane on 38th/39th that I already use.

As an avid bike rider, adding lanes on 35th does not benefit me. The bicycle greenway supports the area. Taking out the parking that is already limited in the area will not be helpful and will likely move cars to the already designated and functioning bicycle greenway on 38th/39th NE. Please change the plan and keep the existing lane and parking configuration. Thank you.

This project is titled, "35th Ave. NE Paving Project," but even a quick glance at the details reveals that it is NOT mostly about repaving but rather msotly about re-engineering the street completely. Traffic flow will be disrupted forever, local businesses will suffer from the loss of parking and safety for bicyclists, pedestrians and drivers alike will not improve. It's a bad plan.

I have my office at the intersection of 55th and 35th and don't see bicycle volume that warrants the need for another bicycle lane on 35th. As there is already a great bicycle street designation on 39th (which I have ridden successfully) I don't see or understand the need for another bicycle designated lane in the neighborhood. PLEASE leaveour street alone.

My understanding is that the elimination of street parking was also a factor in the University Unitarian Church deciding to get rid of the homes along 35th that have housed formerly homeless individuals in order to build another parking lot for their establishment. The negative fallout from this change outweighs the potential benefit.

Anyone I can email directly at SDOT or City council about this issue? 39th Ave is already a viable (safer) option for the extremely few cyclists that come through the neighborhood.

Why build redundant bike lanes and cripple a major artery? Not a good idea. Please don’t.

We have bike lanes on 39th. We don't need bike lanes on 35th as well.

I support safer streets for pedestrians. The city's plan will make the area less safe--adding dedicated bike lines, while slowing traffic (including emergency vehicles) taking away bus stops, forcing people to walk further and encounter more vehicle traffic to catch buses. Removing parking will certainly hurt small, local businesses, but allowing 24 hr parking for all vehicles will certainly inconvenience residents. Let's create a plan that works for residents and commuters of all stripes.

There is much of 35th that does not need parking. But the absence of a left tern lane from 95th to 55th creates bottle necks at every light when someone wants to turn left at each of those stop light. 35th should be repurposed like NE 75th Street. since they put in continuous left turn lane, traffic flows so much better. I recognize that those houses lost on street parking. Like NE 75th, 35th Ave NE is a major arterial. When traffic is backed up, people get frustrated, and getting around blockages creates more risk for pedestrians and bicyclists. I drive 35th many time each week. There are few bicycle users and the ones that are there have no trouble getting around. what should be addressed is traffic flow, traffic flow, traffic flow. Most of the homes on 35th have driveways and alleys. None of us own the streets or have an entitlement to park in front of our homes. Ask anyone who lives in high density neighborhoods. I do recognize that there are some businesses in a limited area on 35th. But this is a small area and there appears to be plenty of parking. Possibly allow some (one side) parking in the vicinity of businesses. There is no need, in my opinion, that parking is needed on more than one side of 35th, and only in limited areas. mdj

I've lived in Wedgwood off of 35th Ave NE since 1994. I'm not opposed to change when it serves the community BUT eliminating all parking on the west side of 35th Ave NE DOES NOT SERVE the citizens of Wedgwood or our neighbors. In addition, this plan does not support the local businesses we patronize and value in Wedgood. I do not support the SDOT in this presumptive plan.

I don't agree with the bike lanes, reducing bus stops and still not protecting pedestrians. This makes it much more dangerous.

I bike. On 35th. Don't ruin 35th with a bike lane when it works just fine today.

NO BIKES!

We need to keep all the bus stops, the parking and put bikes on side streets. This is a terrible plan
