Recently, we were informed that the Community Service Centre located at 1400 Henderson Highway and one in St.Vital were in danger of being closed. As local community citizens signing this petition, we are particularly closed about the closing of 1400 Henderson Highway. I believe the Community Service Centre at 1400 Henderson Highway means a lot to this community and provides a very visible presence of the Winnipeg Police. The public needs a place to go for neighbor disputes, assault reports, criminal record checks, etc. But the role of this Centre is even greater. This service centre is strategically located near schools, low rental housing, and many senior apartment blocks. Again, it is a public space, visible, easily accessed by car and bus and provides the human contact between residents in District 4 and the police. The closure will also affect the Citizens for Crime Awareness (CFCA) mobilization that has taken place. If the Centre is closed, the CFCA may not be able to continue. As a citizen of this community, I respectfully ask that you keep the Police Service Centre open at 1400 Henderson.
