Please save the former home of pioneer Elsie Johns at 1317 Harrison Street in Hollywood from the wrecking ball and replace it with two modern homes totally out of character with the style of the neighborhood. Please Respect the historic homes that remain in our city.

I grew up at 1309 Harrison next door to the Johns home. . I spent many hours at the home with “grandfater” Tomich visiting with him He kept his old airstream camper they lived in while he built their house next to the garage for years He kept a old coffee can filled with candies that he treated me too. I played with Penny Johns, his granddaughter. We put on plays in the yard, playing house in the little back “little house” , now a pool house. We rode bikes and a pedal tractor on the driveway we called Red Rose Lane. The kids in the neighborhood picked mangos off the trees in the yard for “ Grandmother Tomich” and she would cut them and freeze them to be enjoyed later
This home should be preserved as it can never be replaced. It represent the pioneer spirit that built Hollywood.
My childhood home at 1309 was beautifully restored by the Gallup family whom I am forever grateful.
Please do the right thing for this grand old home. Designate as a historic building.

Please, we need to put a moritorium on hostoric places in this city. Too much of our history is going to apartments and vacation homes. Profit rather than history has been taken over by greed.
