Sarilia Development Review Committee
This petition has been created on behalf of concerned residents who presently reside at Sarilia Country Estates in the R.M of Laird, No 404. The petition has been drafted for the purpose of expressing our concerns to our local councillors and the Reeve of the R.M of Laird, of a development that has been ongoing since the fall of 2023. Ever since the start of this new home build located at 454 Saskatchewan Road, we have been subjected to what we view as unconventional development practices by the owners and the contractor of this project, as per the rules and guidelines referred to as the "Schedule A" document. Riverview Cottage Country Inc. and the R.M of Laird No. 404, are both named in the "Schedule A" document. The "Schedule A" document otherwise referred to as the "Owners Handbook" which forms part of, and is attached to all purchase and sales documents for each residential land owner, has been expressed as, and interpreted by the individuals on this petition, a legal document which dictates the guidelines each owner must abide by when completing a new home project at Sarilia Country Estates. This document explicitly indicates procedures and expectations which must be adhered to by new home builders when building at Sarilia Country Estates. On many occasions since the commencement of this project at 454 Saskatchewan Road, residents have voiced the concerns they have, either by phone calls to the RM office, or sending their concerns via email to our administrator, councillor, and the Reeve, of which no responses have been received to date. We have had enough of being sloughed off and ignored by our council and Reeve, where the expectation and need for transparency and effective communication must always be present. This council has been null and void when consideration of our concerns and expectations regarding development of residential property at Sarilia Country Estates is concerned. By way of creating this petition, the residents listed below are informing the RM of Laird No. 404, that they wish to have a complete stop to the issuance of any new or existing requests for building permits located within the boundaries of Sarila Country Estates, until such a time when a group can be formed to fill a role as the " Development Review Committee ", otherwise known as the DRC. New residents shall be held to the same standard as everyone else has had to follow in previous years of building.
