Santa Jim Yellig, Honoring the Man and the Legend

This is a great cause.

I remember seeing him at Santa Claus land for years and my so got to see him to a great and loving nan to all kids

He has sent his life trying to make life happy for others. We now need to recenise him for all his hard work

R.J.Y. had his own way of curing sadness, and strengthening the heart. He designed his life to Serve and Protect, not just our freedoms but our Spirit of giving, and our love for all man kind no matter your age, race, or creed. In a time before enter net he was still able to touch millions of hearts and spread his message of hope, dreams, and magic. By simply sitting in a chair in the heart of your great state. I know reward are for distinguish the individual. With out evening knowing he rewarded each and every person he met.

I'm proud to have been part of previous celebrations of Jim's Life and Legacy in the Santa Community. His work still inspires all of us who follow in his footsteps.

Lived in New Harmony ---went to Santa Claus Land and rode the train behind this great man ... Now i am a Santa also IBRBS and St Nicholas.

The story of Jim Yelling is amazing. 1946, Yellig became the resident Santa at Santa Claus Land, the world’s first theme park. A position he held for 38 years. No Santa before or since has had as many children visit him in person as Santa Jim Yellig.

This is a justified request in every way.

This is a no-brainer for the Governor of Indiana. Honoring such commitment and devotion to community is the least that can be done.

Governor Pence, with all humility I ask that you not only consider but that you do award Santa, Raymond “Jim” Yellig with the highest honor(s) that you can for your city. His life dedicated to service both of his country and of personal happiness to others. With his creation of Santa Claus he undoubtedly placed within each child that was to visit that same "magic" and loyalty. I have added the "Santa" to his name for I feel that just as the word Governor is a title of standing, good works and office, the name, and title of Santa is as well. He was there for his Countrymen, there for his Country. Then working with children and his volunteer work with and for others, he has invested even more into the future of his Country, State, and City. I am a Canadian and have never personally met this man. Yet I have read much about him and his efforts. His life has not only affected your City but his works are known in other countries. This is a man that deserves to be recognized and awarded for not only his work and deeds but his way of life. Thank you and blessings. Sincerely, Santa J Cherry.
