I'm voting from The Bronx, NY, to not re-name Sandy's anything else, let alone after a president. I don't wanna ever return to my family's home in Hawaii to not see "Sandy's" Beach anymore.

If this is for publicity or tourism.....seriously, Hawaii's people need to sleep and work on these islands. We live here, Obama use to, the crazy ass people in the house need to wake up. This is just messing with tradition.

I grew up in Kailua. My family has been going to Sandy's for generations. Leave the name alone. What a terrible name and waste of money.

Change the name to Awāwamalu or Wāwāmalu. There are buildings and tunnels and such that can be named for Obama. But a beach?? and not some little visited beach but Sandy's??? smh. Do these council members have nothing better to do with their time and position?

the person changing the name what made you think of that? Just cuz he went in the water one time? Are you trying to suck up to him? I don't go to the beach often any more but forreal why are you going to change a name of a popular local beach to a man that didn't do anything to make the beach nicer. Raised local stayed local. What did Obama do for us? Just because he went in the water once, you're gonna rename a beach after him? That's so stupid. Sandys is named Sandys for a reason. You council members should stop changing things that don't need to be changed. Name a tunnel after him or something.
