This is a gorgeous home with great bones and should not be torn down for a new McMansion. City of San Marino please save our cultural resources and prevent the needless destruction of our architectural treasures. We don't want San Marino to look like Arcadia!

The warmth and charm of San Marino's neighborhoods owe a lot to the architectural diversity of its homes, its wide streets and many trees and shrubs. Our historical homes contribute to our city's heritage and should be preserved as much as possible for present and future San Marino generations.

It took many years withf many people with very good taste and Architects to constructs what is one of the nicest citiesin the State if not ranking amongmost notable cities in the country. To see these homes torn down for the sake of a few dollars in the pockets of Developers is a travesty. We need to put a Very Strong systems together to deny the conversion of San Marino into a city like Arcadia.

Preservation and identification of such homes / buildings / properties for the historical relevance and of our unique Southern California culture is of utmost importance. These properties may be bought and sold - from one caregiver to the next - not to developers that have zero interest in history.

Thank heavens for more time to stop the bulldozers! At the hearing last evening, city council had questions about the new construction proposed at 1470 Virginia Road, re the TWO "laundry rooms" in the LEGAL subterranean livable space (AKA basement) next to the basement's "maids' quarters." Because of it, we have a continuance....Together let's build our case as to WHY this house must be designated a local historic landmark and preserved for future generations. That way, we never have to say, "MAKE SAN MARINO GREAT AGAIN!" In order to keep it great, the one thing the community must do at this address is to BUILD A BUREAUCRATIC WALL AROUND IT and keep the developers out! :P

Please save the integrity, architecture and charm of San Marino. We have seen what has happened in neighboring communities, like Arcadia, whose planning committees lacked foresight. They have now tightened planning approval but the damage has been done and Arcadia is a shadow of it's former self. San Marino please consider a long-term view and preserve what we have and the beautiful community we enjoy. If one buys a home that does not meet one's needs, they need to consider another one that will - small additions, extensions are fine but doubling and tripling the size of the home is ludicrous. Yes, there are homeowner's rights but they do not trump the rights of neighbors and the community.
