This is very important to me as the train wakes me up most nights.

Why is there a need for all the train horn noise when the crossings are fully gated, alarmed (bells) and have warning lights? Years ago it was not nearly as bad as it is now. Interesting that lately on Sunday mornings after dawn I have heard a train giving very short, limited toots at the nearby crossings. So apparently it is OK to do that at that time slot. Other times, including 2-4am most days, the horn blasts are long and repetitious; easily waking most of us from a deep sleep. Why the disparity? Certainly at such early hours in any morning there is hardly any traffic, if at all, at our local crossings. Plus the horns are still so loud even well after they have passed and are now pointing away! Why can't they utilize modern sound technology to make the horns more directional? Police & military use this same LRAD sound technology to break up crowds of protesters. Why not use on trains to pinpoint the crossing areas and not the surrounding countryside? This train horn nuisance is completely out of control, so close to our residential area.

Can we at least make the horns less obnoxious and loud? We can't get any sleep!

I can hear three crossings from my house. That’s 12 horns in 5 minutes. If a train is going the other way it can be 24 horns in 10 minutes. It is absolutely ridiculous. Why 4 horns? Why not 1, if there have to be any. Besides, the barriers keep people from crossing the tracks, they are certainly a substitute for an unnecessary LOUD verbal warning. 4 times.

The trains wake my grandson every morning around 5:00 A.M. They go on for over a minute-there could not possibly be any traffic to warn at this time

I live one block off the railroad tracks. On some days and nights, the train horns are SO loud. And other times it is not as disturbing. A quiet zone sounds wonderful for our neighborhood.

After Living between Atlantic Blvd and River Oaks Road for 30 years it’s time to put a stop to the train horns. The horns are often sounded unnecessarily long and loud!!! It is time to Silence the train horns.

The train horns are excessively loud and for long durations. It's absolutely ridiculous in a historic residential community to have this disturbance at all hours and frequently.

In the 5 years we’ve lived in San Marco, the trains have become much more common and the horns have gotten much louder. More trains is an understood good things, but waking up every morning to a horn blasting for a solid minute (when our house is almost half a mile from the tracks) is a definite negative to the neoghborhood.
Please make San Marco a quiet zone!!

I own a rental house in San Marco, and it would be easier to get tenants if it weren't for that LOUD train whistle behind the house!

Excellent idea! I'm also sick of my lamp shade, etc. rattling depending on the load and speed of the train coming by.....two blocks away.

I am also very concerned about the amount of traffic new development will bring! This is a kid/pet friendly neighborhood..thru traffic is bad as it is and will get worse with influx of residents!!

If other communities can get this done, so can we.
