While same-sex adoption in now gradually being legalised and normalised across the world, a generation of children raised by same-sex parents in the eighties and nineties have grown into adulthood without their full paternity being legally recognised. This affects their inheritance rights, continues legal ties with a biological parent they may never have met, and prevents a sense of permanency.
