Have the teachers and staff park on Kanan. The last thing we would ever want is to have a kid get hit on Kanon. They need to do this job in the Summer!!!

OPHS offers great lunches or students can bring lunch to avoid having to leave campus for whatever the local fast food places offer. The leaving at lunch does pose additional risks to students who drive and puts more teen drivers on the road. Many of our students who could be dropped off, walk, or take the shuttle actually drive to school so they can leave for lunch. If they didn't need their car to leave for lunch, then they could leave their car at home and use the refund for lunches.

Exacerbates an already dangerous situation on Kanan Road during morning and afternoon rush hours.
Will disrupt traffic patterns and greatly affect Oak Park High School and Medea Middle School neighbors and the local economy.

What we should do is buy a giant hamster, and make it run in a giant wheel to produce energy. If we do decide to go with this 100% clean energy source we wouldn't have the issue with the parking lot. I have a guy that could get us a giant hamster.

We support your efforts to go solar - in the summer! You can't teach "Safety First" in school and not practice what you're preaching!

So awesome to see a school that focuses on "the well being and safety of our students" turn all that over for a rebate

Our priority must be our students safety! This must be delayed until summer. No matter what safety measures you try to implement - safety must come first. Sorry if it will cost more to do a few months later- you cannot put a price on our children's safety!

Visit the OPHS Website to see how the school is working to ensure student safety. Our community members can help by being extra mindful when driving near school during the beginning and end of school. Students who live close enough to walk home or take the Free Kanan Shuttle should consider turning in their parking passes for a $50 refund. All pick up after school will be moved away from the front of school to reduce traffic on Kanan. One of our existing concerns is the off-campus lunch privilege that might create safety concerns if students jaywalk or are rushing to get back to campus.

There was a near fatal accident in the valley a few days ago where a young girl was hit just as she was getting out of her vehicle. Let's put solar in when it won't affect the kids.

Very dangerous to have parking along Kanan, both to young drivers exiting their vehicles and to cyclists. Very busy road, this is an accident waiting to happen!

As a former OPHS student, I find this extremely unfair especially for seniors who go off campus for lunch. With these new parking rules it may take some seniors 5-10 minutes to get from their class to their car and then another 10 minutes to walk from their car to their last period after lunch. This is essentially taking away 20 minutes, half of the lunchtime, just to get to the car to go and get lunch, which is absurd and makes off campus lunch basically impossible.
