Final supporters
Our school currently has a situation with parking that is putting our children and staff at risk on a daily basis.
The school’s only access road on Osidge Lane continues to experience high levels of parking congestion which is at its peak during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. This is despite the presence of an adjacent car park and unrestricted road parking on East and West Walks.
Should an emergency take place at the school at any time of the day, an ambulance or fire engine would not be able to access the school if there are cars parked on the roundabout. This poses a significant risk to the lives of our children and staff at the school.
Despite numerous notices from the Head Teacher over the years and the council placing bollards on the roundabout, the parking on the roundabout has increased this new school year. This obstruction continues throughout the day with parking by members of the public who are accessing the park.
The school’s access road needs an effective and visual parking deterrent.
With the support of our ward councillor and school governor, Cllr Lisa Rutter, we are petitioning Barnet Council to enforce parking restrictions on the roundabout with the placing of double yellow lines.
We need your support to back this campaign to ensure free and clear access to the school to protect the safety of our children and staff.

I really thought this might just fizzle out but the way people are rallying around the roundabout situation is actually kind of wild. It makes me feel like the council might finally have to open their eyes to how bad the congestion on Osidge Lane has gotten.

I’m a Brunswick parent and a London Ambulance Service Paramedic. I know for a fact an Ambulance would have great difficulty getting passed the cars parked on the roundabout.
Cars on the roundabout endanger children walking into or out of school, especially as the evenings become darker earlier. My youngest was almost knocked off his scooter by a door opening across the narrow pavement. I would warmly welcome double yellow lines, it would make the roundabout safer for all. Parking blocks access for emergency vehicles, the minibuses, food deliveries, and the residents of Osidge Lane who have garages up the lane.
Also, parking wardens MUST give tickets to those parents who constantly park right o the corner of Woodfisld Drive, blocking the vision of cars trying to get in or out of the road AND blocking safe pedestrian access across the road.
I have a daughter with a severe nut allergy. Block in off emergency access routes is not only irresponsible but also endangering lives.
I back this 100%- there is absolutely no reason to park in this area and doing so puts our children’s lives at risk. I have also witnessed teachers being delayed / prevented from parking in their legitimate spaces at the top of the lane due to this thoughtless behaviour. Sadly I think yellow zig zags and fines are the only way to stop this as these arguments seem to fall on deaf ears.
Something has to be done! This endangering lives.

I am in support of yellow lines in the interest of keeping everyone safe. I’ve noticed people parking there today even when there were at least 4 free spaces in the adjacent car park.
