Safety First Petition - To keep the Hwy 3 ODOT station open (on Highway between Enterprise, Oregon and Lewiston, Idaho), or as an alternative, construct a new sand shed and equipment building on Highway 3 to continue to provide timely service to the north end. The state wishes to shut down this station due to operating costs. This Highway requires constant attention to remove rocks. Also, winters with no sand shed at the north end of the highway will cause the care of icy roads to be subject to trucks having to return to Enterprise to get more sand, leaving roads unattended and un-sanded while the trucks made the costly drive back and forth. The lack of immediate and timely snow removal on the north end of the highway will also hinder the county in keeping roads in the north end free of ice, snow, and rocks.
