Dear Mayor Henderson,
We are writing to ask the Subiaco Council to improve street lighting near the University of Western Australia.
Streets on the South Western perimeter of the University, such as Caporn St and Cook St are frequently used by students and local residents; however, lighting on these streets is minimal.
In the last eighteen months, there have been a number of incidents in this area, including serious assaults.
This has contributed to a reduction in student usage of the campus at night and has reduced activity in the local area.
We want to see a community where everyone can feel safe at night.
We ask that you improve the lighting in this area, and increase security services, to improve night time safety.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
The feedback from students regarding the lack of visibility on Caporn Street is consistent and deeply concerning. I am currently coordinating with local council members to ensure these reports are presented during the upcoming budget review.

The increase in public interest regarding our request for improved safety reflects how many neighbors share these valid concerns. This momentum provides a firm foundation for our upcoming discussions with the local council.

Please just put up some better lights. Its not that hard. Safety for the students should come first.

Fix the lights. It shouldnt take another incident for the council to do their jobs and keep these streets lit.
