The stretch of road in Maple Ridge, on Lougheed Hwy between 207th and Laity is a dangerous place for anyone to cross, but the inconvenient distance of walking either way to get to one of the lighted crosswalks proves that there needs to be something put in between. There are a lot of houses south of that stretch of Lougheed, and a lot of high school kids that live in those houses. Being that 210th leads directly to the high school from this area, the kids walk that way to get to school. Also, on the north side of Lougheed, there are many homes where children live, who need to cross southbound to get to the elementary school. Putting in an overpass, or a lighted crosswalk there only makes sense. Now that there has been a terrible accident, I am hoping that the eyes of our government will open up a little to this problem, and help us keep our children and our neighbors' children safe.
