As a regular user of this crossing (with 2 young children), I am astonished this seems so hard to get right!

I have witnessed several potential accidents and I think something should be done before something fatal happens.

The wait at this crossing makes crossing the road at peak times particularly unsafe - please resolve, surely just a simple configuration action is required?

Totally agree, it is ridiculous not to have safer crossings so close to such a large primary school.

Agree that the crossings are far too busy because of long waits. Like lots of parents, we now use the crossing by Sainsburys instead and we have found ourselves stuck in the middle waiting to cross or unable to see because of huge vans parked outside Sainsburys. There are lots of elderly people also using the shop who find themselves in the same boat and don't want to have to walk all the way down to either crossing. Earlier this year, at this part of Durnsford Road, a car did stop to let us cross ...but because it is not a clearly marked crossing and a van was behind the car a bike whizzed through on the inside and narrowly missed hitting my daughter in her pram. Many parents I have spoken to have shared similar concerns about near misses with small children. A zebra crossing is a great idea to encourage vehicles and cyclists to stop and let children cross with grater safely, particularly as the school has grown so much in numbers in recent years. More visible signage about the school on Durnsford Road would also help the current situation.

Another danger is that the time allowed to cross is not long enough for the larger groups of parents and children who are now waiting at the crossing for the lights to change.

The crossing by Sainsbury's is a hazard and needs to be addressed as soon as possible before there is a fatality. Cars frequently drive at 50mph before coming to traffic lights.

local plumbing business should also try and manage delivery times to avoid school pick ups. The big delivery vans block site lines.

I agree with the increase in people waiting to cross. It is very dangerous and I hope to see changes soon.
