THEY FINALLY LISTENED AND NEW RESTRICTIONS ARE OFFICIALLY HAPPENING ON DUNSTER ROAD!! I AM BEYOND THRILLED THAT OUR CHILDREN WILL FINALLY HAVE A SAFE SPACE TO CROSS WITHOUT DANGER!! THANK YOU FOR STAYING LOUD AND KEEPING THE PRESSURE ON UNTIL WE SECURED THIS HUGE WIN FOR OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY!!
Hi!
I have a child who goes to greasley beauvale school,
Thursday 22nd nov she was seconds away from being ran over by a van trying to cross dunster road!
Parents have been sent out emails/letters regarding the parking issues and how inconsiderate they park however do not seem to be taking any notice of this!
I have therefore spoken to the school/Broxtowe council/greasley council and the police regarding the issues,
I have started a petition and I am in the process of collecting names and signatures from local residents and parents who would support me in saying something needs to be done NOW before a child gets seriously hurt or killed!
Our children need a safe space to cross the roads and how the cars are parked this is impossible, I don’t know what the long term solution is but maybe more yellow lines, increased PCSO patrols, a no park zone?!
This is not aimed at the whole of Dunster road, just the section opposite the current yellow zig zag, no parking lines and the corner of Peters Close.
Our children need to be able to cross the road safely and currently this is not possible!
This has been an issue for many years. 14 years ago my son was at this school and broke his collar bone. A blue light ambulance came to take us straight to hospital but it couldn’t get to the school drive because of parents parking. Even the blue light made no difference!!!! I was livid at the time. Lives are being put at stake clearly. 14 years later and no different!!! It’s time something is done before a life is lost!

There shouldn’t be any parking outside the school gates full stop. Most of these offenders only live within walking distance anyway!! It’s just pure laziness

All of the rounds surrounding Greasley Beauvale are a nightmare around school pick up and drop off. Dangerous parking and dangerous driving, something needs to be done before there is a serious accident!

I think parking time restrictions should be introduced out side and within a certain distance of schools. This would only work if enforcement was implemented and this is the part of failure. It baffles me as to why the parents in these vehicles put their and other children at risk just because they can't be bothered to walk a little further. Good luck with your petition hopefully something can be done before a child or adult gets seriously hurt or worse.

Im so glad this petition has been raised. There are clearly issues related to parking, and disregard for footpaths blocking pedestrians and people with prams or Buggies. the safety of our children is of paramount importance. I implore the council to make changes in this area, Send a traffic officer at peak times ? renew the length of double yellow lines ? anything to stop a child or parent being hurt or distressed, or even Killed ! yes that is a reality.
Don't stop at signing, share the petition link with friends to multiply our impact
