Hi,
We are collecting signatures to forward to the office of Tom Jackson and any other necessary recipients to petition for the installation of flashing lights at the new “cross walk” located at the corner of Mountain Brow & Ellsworth Drive.
Recently a cross walk was put in place at that location after safety concerns were raised about pedestrians not being able to cross safely at that particular location.
Sadly, it has been repeatedly observed by local residents that very very few vehicles will actually stop and acknowledge that cross walk when people are there waiting to cross.
There have been several “close calls” with cars not stopping or noticing pedestrians attempting to cross Mountain Brow at this location especially in the evening or times with reduced daylight, however it is a concern at other times as well.

I just spent the morning watching the intersection and it is honestly terrifying how fast cars fly past that crosswalk without even tapping the brakes. My inbox is filling up with messages from people who describe feeling exactly the same way when they try to walk their dogs or head to the park. I am currently putting together a package of these stories to drop off at Tom Jackson's office because they really need to see the human impact of these near misses.

I honestly cannot believe how fast this is moving and seeing the numbers jump up makes me think that maybe things will actually change for the better on that corner. It feels like people are finally noticing how terrifying it is to walk near Ellsworth when the sun goes down because I have seen way too many cars just breeze through that spot lately.

Pls! There are young kids and elderly ppl who use this and no one stops for us it’s not safe
A pedestrian activated light would be a good idea. The one at High Street has mad an amazing difference
Our family has witnessed first hand many times, that cars do not stop for us while waiting to cross.
the area need more safety all along the mountain brow. Slow the drivers done anyway possible
I have two young children and find that we are consistently waiting for a driver to recognize that we are trying to cross the road.
This is a definite need!
