My daughter and I cross this street daily and drivers turning onto Ocean Parkway do not stop even if they see a child waiting to cross. They will zoom by to make that left turn off Caton Avenue.

The NYPD, the City Council , and the DOT desperately need to address the traffic safety issues of Caton Avenue and the PS130 and MS839 communities. Our government services must keep up with the safety needs of the school system.
In 2015, after months of PSK280 PTA and local citizen organizing - the intersection at 19th St and 10th Avenue was assigned a crossing guard, but only after a parent was hit by a car.
The later change in traffic pattern at that intersection only took place only after an elderly woman was hit by a car.
This story must not be repeated on Caton Avenue. Government officials please act now before any more people are hurt. Please allocate funding and training for more Crossing Guards and re-assess traffic patterns and curb designs in these locations.

I live at 71 Ocean Parkway and cross at that intersection daily with my preschooler and baby. We have had more near misses than I can count. Cars make that turn off Caton very fast and pay little attention to pedestrians.

Dangerous crossing it definitely needs an agent and signage.

OK -- we're telling you it's extremely dangerous. Time for a crossing guard and more safety features or this is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Caton Avenue and East 5th is equally dangerous, with heavy traffic flow exiting the Prospect Expressway, and turning onto Caton Ave. There is no crossing guard, and there is no delayed green to allow pedestrians time to cross before the cars start to turn!

It would also be terrific to have a red signal for vehicles turning left that would allow pedestrians more time to cross.

That intersection is SO dangerous. People make left turns when the arrow is blinking yellow and dont look for pedestrians who have the right of way. My children and i have almost been hit at least 3 times.

With two school buildings within a block and a half of this intersection, and the known danger of this stretch of road, its unthinkable there is not a crossing guard posted here.

My family & I have had numerous near misses with drivers in this intersection and I know many neighbors have experienced the same. We need coverage at this corner during peak hours!
