Safer Highway Crossing Petition

The purpose of this petition is to ask the Department of Transportation to reduce the speed limit through the Manning Park Resort, Staff Community, and Visitor Centre areas. This change would help ensure the safety of staff and visitors as they cross Hwy 3 in these areas.
Across British Columbia, many small communities, towns, and even campgrounds have roads running through them with lower speed limits (usually 70 km/h) to make crossing safer. Hwy 3 passes directly through our resort, community, and visitor centre, with guest areas on one side and staff and visitor areas on the other. The current speed limit is 100 km/h, which makes it difficult for people to cross safely.
Unfortunately, there have been accidents and several close calls involving both pedestrians and vehicles. We are asking for the speed limit to be reduced to 70 km/h along this stretch of the highway, from the resort to just past the visitor centre, or for a crosswalk that stops traffic to be installed in these areas.
By signing this petition, you are showing your support for reducing the speed limit or implementing another safety measure to improve the situation.
