To all parents of children who ride school bus 748 (morning) and 238 (afternoon) to and from Marchmont PS.....

Since the bridge reopened on Wainman Line in November 2025, requests have been submitted to the Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium (SCSTC), the two Simcoe County Public School Superintendents and our School Trustee, to have these buses revert to their original route before the bridge closure, so that they travel on Wainman Line and avoid the intersection at Highway 12 and Townline Road. We all know how dangerous that intersection is, and how even more dangerous it is for a school bus full of children to navigate. Despite detailed explanations being provided in regard to how our children's safety is vastly increased by avoiding the intersection at Highway 12 and Townline Road, and the fact that the routes within Marchmont would not change but would simply be reversed so that the buses could travel on Wainman Line, all requests have been denied with the only explanation being 'the current route adheres to policies'.

These simple questions were asked:

1. Which route is safer? We all know the answer is the Wainman Line route.

2. Why aren't the buses travelling on that safer route? Is our children's safety not a priority?

No answers have been received to those questions. It appears that bureaucracy is trumping common sense in this situation. Hopefully this can be rectified before a tragic incident involving our children's school buses occurs unnecessarily at this intersection.

This petition has been ceeated to obtain the support of all parents of children on these buses, as well as concerned community members, in order to be able to advise the SCTSC, Superintendents and Trustee that we all share the same concern for the increased risk and danger they are exposing our children to by requiring the buses to unnecessarily travel through that intersection.

- school bus routes 748 and 238 should be altered as soon as possible so that those school buses travel on Wainman Line instead of Highway 12, thereby avoiding the dangerous intersection at Highway 12 and Townline Road; and

- by doing so, the risk level our children are exposed to during their bus travels will be significantly decreased,
