Open public schools!! Private schools have been open for months while public schools sit at home at a disadvantage! Distance learning is not the same as being in person! Our kids deserve better!

Please let’s bring the kids back to school. Let’s prioritize the vaccinations for K-5 schools and hardest hit districts. Be safe!

If people can eat in restaurants &, get their hair & nails done then schools need to get back to in person instruction.

As a parent to three children in San Jose Unified, this has been extraordinarily difficult for both their mental health and their essential educational success. I don’t understand why nearly every school district in the country is open except for San Jose Unified. We live in the heart of Silicon Valley; we are the technology hub for the world. Yet, our children pay the ultimate scholastic price because some selfish bureaucrats at the teachers union and school district are incapable of putting the children first. I have two schools in my neighborhood one is public, and the other is private. The private school has been open with an in-person curriculum for several months. San Jose Unified is punishing children whose families cannot afford the tens of thousands of dollars of tuition to go to private school by not allowing in-person education. This is a disgrace.

Nothing is perfectly safe. Take a risk for the sake of our kids. Leaders then need to move teachers to the head of the line for shots.

Please open schools for the sake of our children especially the ones who are struggling through distance learning and have challenges accessing technology that enables them to learn from distance. There is enough evidence and field data that safety measures can be effective in protecting students against covid as well as vaccines have been proven effective on the lathe population where they have been administered worldwide. Why the delay. Children need to go back to school and in real classrooms.

My kids returned to public school in Portola Valley in October. I know it sounds crazy but if schools follow a few simple rules (a/k/a The Four Pillars) - wash hands, wear masks, keep some distance if you feel sick stay at home then kids and teachers can safely return to schools. In addition, schools that have re-opened also have superintendents who "really" want kids back in school. I am glad Newsom is now focused on returning kids to the classroom but he should have been focused on this in July. Last time I checked schools in CA start in August. Distance Learning doesn't work. I feel terrible for the kids who are stuck at home in DL.
