As an educator, I agree, kids need to be back in school, ESPECIALLY elementary and low income students. I also think that prioritizing teachers in vaccination is a reasonable condition for safe return. Let's do this!

Kids are depressed and even in the best circumstances falling behind...physically, socially and emotionally. Many of my kids' friends cry all the time because they miss their friends. They need to go back to school!

Our lack of a plan to re-open is a real shame. Traditionally marginalized populations are suffering exponentially and the ramifications of this inadequate response down the road will be immense. This is an absolute crisis. ALL kids (public, private, affluent, vulnerable, younger & older) NEED to be back in a physical learning environment. We can do it. We just need to stop allowing politics to get in the way of what's best for kids. Stop listening to special interest groups and let's do what's best for everyone's interests - especially our precious children.

The evidence seems to support reopening schools. Follow the science. But that means the classrooms need sufficient ventilation and not recycled air.
