A new model found that kids are half as susceptible to COVID-19 compared to adults. They’re also less likely to transmit the illness.
Schools need to re-open!

Our kids need to be in school. It is important for them to interact with each other, get physical exercise and keep their brains moving. Some of our kids are living with their offenders who are physically, mentally and sexually abusive. Let's get them out of their homes before these kids commit suicide!

I hope there will be similar support for our middle and high school students who are suffering and deserve in-person instruction as well. There is proof that if safety guidelines are in place, high schools are no more at risk of spread even with changing classrooms. Education and maturation doesn't end in 6th grade. All students deserve and need the option of in-person instruction.

Please don't use the fact/fear that eventually a child or teacher will get COVID or worse as proof that a quarter of million of Santa Clara County children should have their mental health put at risk.

Let's not stop at 6th grade - let's go to 8th. All kids need peer interaction outside of the home and offline. Learning is not effective online for many kids. Please don't put long term health before quality education.
