Schools should open with proper protocols considering everyone’s safety. We have to embrace the challenges this pandemic has brought upon us.

Let’s follow the science and re-open schools now. We have the guidance on how to do so safely for both students and teachers.

Teachers getting vaccinated should be right up there with front line workers so children can get back in school and their parents can get back to work.

Kids are the future. Please get kids back in school and give future a chance. If it's been done in other states by can't be done in California.

We must open schools now. Our children are falling way behind. How are our high school students going to stack up when they compete for college?

Schools are a safe place and it seems this is more about the politicians and union control than what is right for the children of our communities. At the very least, vaccinate all teachers as a top priority along with health care workers and then let teachers that would like to return to the classroom be allowed to - if not require them - and then if they would like to have their kids in class - let them. If they don't want their kids in class, they should be required to Zoom from their work place. An empty classroom is about as isolated and safe as you can get and they would have all the resources they need to do better work - and they could work more diligently at preparing for the kids to return. I didn't know that unions had so much power over such decisions - I thought it was the public health departments role to determine what is or isn't ok to do (though I would argue they've failed at that as badly as unions have for our kids.)

Vaccinate all school staff and teachers now. Open all elementary schools in San Jose by March 15. Plan now for extended day and year to address substantive learning loss!
