LA metro is a scary thing to experience from the smell to the dirty floors or the unsafe environment in the train. Mostly it’s the underground but as well as buses sometimes and train over ground . A city like this big should have the train up to standard to encourage people to want to give up their cars and use the transit.

On several occasions I've been concerned for my safety aboard the Blue Line and numerous times I've walked past seats and rows that either had trash or spilled liquids on the seats or the floor.

Seems metro previously had more resources at opening of red line.
I'd like to see attendants at each station entrance and regular patrols on cars / from car to car.

LA Metro needs more aggressive security guards so that the homeless people will listen to them,
No more seats in the morning because of the homeless people sleeping and the smell is so terrible.

I love the Metro rails, especially the Red/Purple lines. It's usually the few people who mess it up for the rest of us. I want to feel safe and clean when I take the train. We must work together to fix this.

Twice now I thought I would have to use my pepper spray to ward off attacks from mentally ill passengers. Once I entered an elevator only to find human feces in one corner so I immediately exited and had to carry my heavy bag up the stairs to exit the station. More often than not, the "police" are focusing on fare evasion and not the safety of the patrons, nor are the maintenance staffs keeping the stations clean. Something definitely needs to be done.

I would love to ride the metro to and from the office, however I chose to sit in traffic instead. Why? It's not worth the hassle dealing with nefarious characters who roam the platforms and trains. I've seen multiple instances of lewd behavior, defecation, vulgarity, harassment, and hostility towards riders. This of course with no officers to be found, other than to double check you paid to ride. I will not ride the metro until it's cleaned up and safe to do so.

Just as we need a renaissance of rail transit in Los Angeles, we are risking losing much goodwill from her citizens. Homelessness and Mental Illness are serious issues and must be dealt with. But, the behavior one sees on Metro's rail lines is not something that is tolerated at other transportation facilities in the region. Not LAX. Not even the Greyhound Bus Station.

Metro trains are often disgusting, while safety and the perception of it has decreased in recent years. Metro needs to better clean and maintain its trains while implementing security staff that does more than check tickets.

It's time Metro realize that ridership is definitely impacted negatively when riders feel the system is unsafe and dirty. Change those yucky "carpet seats" too high-density plastic seats like those found in NYC and Taipei.

Trains from downtown LA to Santa Monica are filthy. And homeless are constantly moving in and out of trains at stops, preventing the trains from moving quickly, and slowing down the ride.
