Schenectady’s streets are so far behind the 8 ball, it’s sort of cute; cars rule like the 1950s.

No city should have unsafe streets ... and Schenectady streets are notoriously unsafe. That's unacceptable. Let's get the issue fixed.

I bike to my job teaching at a Schenectady Middle School and luckily travel through quiet neighborhoods. Many of my students have to walk over a mile to get to and from school (in any other year) and while crossing guards are typically stationed at key intersections we have a long way to go if we wish to see our city thrive in the future. Please don’t neglect neighborhood up the hill from downtown, Union St, Nott St and Eastern Pkwy are busy commuter corridors that also need attention.

After observing what has been done in other communities I realize Safe Streets for pedestrians is possible. It should be a priority.

I fully support reducing the speed limit to a sensible 25 miles per hour. Many cities and localities have benefited in innumerable ways from implementing lower speed limits. Let’s take an easy win!

Great job with the petition! Five-way intersection of Wendell/Nott/Rosa is bad for pedestrians and drivers; besides the basic complexity of the intersection, divers run the red going west on Nott, adding to the danger. Pedestrian walk lights and painted crosswalks are needed. At minimum, a painted crosswalk and signs are also needed where Athol Rd. meets Rosa Rd. at the hospital emergency room and parking garage. Also Ellis needs to replace its dangerous sidewalk on Nott between the parking garage and Stewart's. Sorry this is so long, but that's how I see it, thanks for this opportunity to speak. We all need our streets to be safe for walkers, cyclists and drivers. We share the road. If Amsterdam can do this so can we

Fourth Ave. is a race track. To avoid the red light at Francis & Crane St., cars race down Fourth Av. Little children run all over the place & are in danger of getting hit. From Congress to Crane on Fourth--Cars illegally park on both corners of Crane&Fourth- blocking view of on-coming cars around the curve coming up from Crane. Some double park-making it worse.
