Cedar Rapids School District currently has a bathroom procedure in place for all K-12 schools which allow students to use the restroom based on their gender identity. With this procedure, it means that biological boys are able to use the girl's restroom/locker rooms and biological girls are able to use the boy's restroom/locker rooms. As much as we ALL want everyone to feel accepted and included, we also need to protect the rights of all students and ensure bathrooms, locker rooms, and overnight stays remain safe spaces. Would you feel comfortable or safe using a restroom with the opposite gender? Would you feel comfortable or safe using the same locker room as the opposite gender? If not, please sign this petition to let the school district know we want safe restrooms that ARE based on biological gender, not gender identity.
