We, the citizens of the Burin Peninsula, petition, the Government of Newfoundland Labrador, and the Department of Health and Community Services, to initiate and create a fully functional Safe Room at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Facility. Such a room will meet the needs of youth in this area, as it relates to de-tox, addictions support for client and family, mental health supports, and allow clients, 16 years of age and under, the opportunity to avail of in-patient services as determined by health care professionals. All in-patient services to be implemented with all the necessary human and physical resources put in place to ensure appropriate care and consideration for the continuum of patient care.

We need this so bad. My nephew had nowhere to go last year and it was a nightmare. Please fix this.
About time. Every kid on the peninsula deserves local support when they are in crisis.
Finally someone is speaking up about this. Its a basic requirement for any health care facility.
This is way over due. Our youth are suffering and have to travel way too far for help. Do the right thing!
It breaks my heart thinking of these kids struggling without proper space. Build it now.

Totally ridiculous that we dont have one already. Stop ignoring the mental health needs in our community.
