Please Help Stop Exploratory Drilling/Mining on Sullivan Ranch-Sacred Land
***PETITION HAS BEEN SENT TO MMD, MAY CREATOR GIVE THEM WISDOM ***
**We have been give an extension, Dec 13th** PLEASE TAKE ACTION NOW, TIME IS RUNNING OUT!! This petition is to express our deep concern and strong opposition to Sullivan Ranch Project #SO014ER. Drilling exposes this entire area and all its inhabitants to unnecessary risk. Beryllium is an ore used in weapons of mass destruction, reactors, aircraft and space vehicle structures, mirrors and more. The dust from the mineral binds to the soil, dissolves in water but eventually settles to the bottom. Impacting and harming wild Life, and endangered species like the Chiricahua leopard frog, the ovate vertigo snail and the Alamosa springsnail. Beryllium causes lung cancer. The Alamosa Springs Cienega is the only remaining example of an arid-land spring cienega intact and in good condition in SW N.M., with potential risk of cross contamination of aquifers, possibly altering delivery of ground water to the springs, and the environment. I must also make note that The Sullivan Ranch is privately owned and located in Socorro County, New Mexico and is working in conjunction with BE Resources Inc. Together they seek approval of the exploratory drilling permit. The area known as Red Paint Canyon is of Cultural and Religious Significance to both the Warm Springs Apache and Mescalero Apache. We do not know without a shadow of a doubt how exploratory drilling will affect the Alamosa Springs, creating a domino effect, affecting farming, endangered species, disturbing and desecrating our Ancestors burial sites. The potential health risks, damage, destruction and desecration far outweigh any benefit. Please Mr. Brancard, we are looking to you and the wisdom of the MMD for protection! This land is all we have left to fight for, It contains our past and holds our future. Our Ancestors paid for this land with their blood! The Monticello Box and the Warm Springs are a complex, unique and rich place, in history, culture, beauty, endangered species, and water, not found anywhere else in NM. Please don't let this habitat be taken away from us and stripped of all that is holy to us. Please don't allow our Ancestors to be disturbed from their eternal resting place. Mother Earth is a precious gift to all humanity. If we take care of her, she will take care of us. This is the Land of Enchantment... don't allow her to be a toxic wasteland. Please help us preserve it's history, beauty, and keep it that way for our children and their children and generations to come. Please sign this petition...
