Apparently at UK it is more important to be eager to please than to be international highly esteemed. Similar attitude seems to characterise UNITS in Italy

The reasons given are in no way adequate to explain this decision!

Shocking evidence of a University management attempting to silence any Academic, however senior, who dares to be critical of their policies.

It is hard to believe the university can fire such world-renown scientists based on such unground matters

Based on the information available the grounds for dismissal seems inappropriate. I support this petition.

The stated reasons for sacking Hans Thybo appear trivial and intended to intimidate. Staff and students in univesities should surely be encouraged to challenge Administration where they consider this appropriate, as this can only lead to dialogue and improvement. It is also surely a fundamental right of free speach. And surely a professor should be able to discuss these matters freely with senior research students. Is Denmark descending into a totalitarian state?

Hans Thybo is an eminent scientist who has worldwide recognition for his groundbreaking work studying the structure of the Earth and its relation to plate tectonic forces. He is a dedicated scientist and served for many years as a stalwart editor of the highly regarded journal Tectonophysics.

I am dismayed that such a frivolous reason can be used to dismiss a professor with major contribution to the field. Especially I do not expect this to occur in Denmark, a country renowned for its intellectual honesty.

Even in Australia the reported "evidence" would not be grounds for dismissal of a janitor, much less a very distinguished scientist. I am very concerned to hear that Denmark has fallen to this level.

The tyranny of oppression usually doesn't reside in the halls of academia. The administrators at the University should be ashamed of themselves...

Hans Thybo is mature, forward-looking scientist who takes decisions based on factual data and selfless vision.

Professor Thybo is highly respected internationally, and his dismissal is unreasonable and untenable.

I think that this has been a seriously flawed decision on the part of the University of Copenhagen.

The reported reasons for the dismissal of Prof. Thybo are not only absurd. They reflect badly on the University of Copenhagen and the country of Denmark. Thybo should be reinstated, and the university's leadership replaced for the international embarrassment they have caused.
